Cross application Currency (Zynga, Facebook)

Credits: Right now in the ecosystem a lot of developers are building up stores of credit cards of users. Our goal with credits is that people can use single currency in every app. Will be a lot better for applications; lower friction. We have almost 100 different apps in our credits program so far (we’re still in closed beta).

The credits being spoken about are the Facebook Credits which were discussed at the F8 conference.

This is something I’ve spoken and discussed with friends ever since Zynga started releasing multiple Social Worlds.

Well this might not be completely in sync with what FB Credits has or is planning to do, but this what Zynga should look at.

Games usually have 2 types of currency.
A - say Coins. Things you earn by doing various things in the game.
B - say Cash. Tough to earn via regular gameplay and is usually bought by cash.

Now Zynga…
as they grow bigger and release more and more virtual worlds needs to create a cross platform currency. i.e. 1 form of currency in all the worlds and allow currency to flow from 1 game to another.
i.e. if I am playing Farmville for 6 months and have accrued a decent amount of wealth, I should be allowed to transfer 10% of this wealth to Treasure Isle (another of Zynga’s games).

An alternate method might be creating a Zynga Bank. You can convert cash of one application to be used in another. This of course has to be moderated and thought in detail to avoid gaming and abuse of the system.

Just some thoughts.
