A Facebook Ad Network

I actually wanted to post this the day the F8 changes were announced. Somehow just didn’t find time and then took a week off the digital world.

Well I’m sure many of you might have had this same thought…
Its pretty obvious.

The social graph i.e. the ‘like’ project across sites is actually the first step towards building a very powerful ad-network which will rival Google AdSense in terms of contextuality.

Imagine the amount of data Facebook will have about you. They are going to know which websites you are visiting, what are your likes - both on Facebook and off-Facebook.

Result - An behemoth behavioral targeting ad-network. Web masters will be able to place FB Ad Code on their pages/sites (similar to Google AdSense) and not only can ads be served based on contextuality…but now based on context + user behaviour.

Just think about the possibilities! Brand Managers and planners are sure going to love this tool.

Imagine having the power not only to choose what kind of sites you want to target in your campaign. But also the age, gender, location of people + base it on their likes and habits! Crazy stuff :-)

This will of course depend on how popular the ‘Like’ feature gets and how many people choose to integrate it into their sites. But here is a reason for Google to be scared. They are going to be attacked in a space where they are kings.
