Profit vs Revenues

Just a learning gained from working in 4 fairly different companies…

Companies which are run as start-ups and are not looking at raising money but just at surviving and scaling up on their own, care far more about profits than just revenues. Every deal goes under the microscope.

Start-ups looking at getting funded / raising money…
Will care a lot for revenues and at the same time try to maximise their profits.

Established companies or companies belonging to larger conglomerates will concentrate a lot on revenues and how they contribute to the top line of the bigger company, than worry about profit margins.

If you are under 26 and have worked in just 1 company…
Move out. Take risks. Explore other companies.
The amount you learn in 10-12 years by working in 1 company, you’ll learn in 6-8 years by working in 2-3 companies.
