Brand Engagement on Facebook - MTV Roadies

After handling Facebook pages for brands for more than a year…I got pretty bored. You can’t tell guys on your page to buy your product each day. And you still need to come up with content to keep them engaged.

There are more than 90 Million fan pages on Facebook. If you have a look at the Top 20 most engaged and active pages on Facebook, you’ll notice that not a single ‘BRAND’ fan page is there on that list. By brand I mean a consumer product brand.

But how can Social Media actually be used successfully for a TV show?

When I joined Viacom 18, I wasn’t a big fan of MTV Roadies. But the explosive growth this show has witnessed on the Social space is staggering. It’s already in the Top 5 list of pages with most fans in India - Check http://socialbrands.media2win.com, 1 Million+ views on the Youtube channel (Just a month after the channel got launched) and now amongst all the pages on Facebook this week, its at No. 10 in terms of engagement!

This is via AllFacebook.com

We share the usual stuff on the page:
Updates about the show, behind the scene photos, sneak preview videos, complete episode videos…
These work very well.

But what really helps is that we build this a platform where other Roadies fans can meet each other and chat with people similar to them.

facebook.com/mtvroadies is promoted on TV during every show. The Roadies viewers recognise this as a platform to connect with other fans. During the show we actually encourage the users to catch the episode at leisure on the Youtube channel or the website.

Facebook Meetups were held across the country on Friday’s (a day before the episode airs) and users are given a chance to meet Raghu and be the first ones to see that episode.

MTV Roadies is pretty much the hottest youth brand in India at the moment!

You have to think 360 degrees when you think of Facebook.

*EDIT*

And things got even bigger over the past week!
A single post got more than 50,000+ Likes and at one given point on Twitter we had 3 things (#roadies, Suchit, Mohit) trending! Suchit and Mohit are finalists.
